I know a lot of people don't live in #cybersecurityawareness but I felt there was enough useful facts in this article that came across my feed yesterday to make it worth sharing. Before reading the article, can you guess how many attempts a computer has at guessing your password in a single second? How long does it take a computer to hack an 8-character password? Find out this and more at the article below: https://lnkd.in/eCmxYBv
After reading the SplashData survey results, share what are the most amusing passwords on the list? I think "letmein" is my favorite, although you have to admire the longevity of 123456 holding on to the top spot!
So, how do I think password hacking and the national debt alike: Here are my top three answers:
1) They are both absurdly large, incomprehensible numbers - 100 Billion for passwords per second means that a computer's guesses can match the nation debt of approx 28 Trillion in under 5 minutes.
2) They are both growing at an exponential rate
3) They both represent risks that are ever-present.
